Eating Around the Dunmore East Cliff Walk
The Doneraile Walk is short — 40-60 minutes for the loop. Timed right, it brackets a meal at The Spinnaker either side. Here's the practical timing.
Before the walk
Coffee and a light bite rather than a heavy meal — the cliff path has some uphill and you don't want to be plodding. A flat white and a scone, or a small bar bite, then go.
After the walk — the proper plate
This is the main event. 40 minutes on the cliff path delivers you back into the village hungry. The Spinnaker is a five-minute walk from where the cliff path ends. Walk-in works mid-week; ring (051) 383 133 on a weekend afternoon.
Ringing from the path
Mobile signal is decent on most of the cliff route. Lock in your table from the top of the headland — gives the kitchen warning, gives you certainty, removes any 'will there be a table' anxiety from the second half of the walk.
Off-season — the under-rated combination
October-April: cliff path empty, pub fire on, two-course lunch at the bar afterwards for what a single starter costs in Dublin. The right end to a winter walk.
